Andrei Karpovich: “Strengthening two or three positions would be optimal for us”

Head coach of Aktobe Andrei Karpovich commented on the match of the 15th round of the Premier League against Shakhtar (1:0)

-I would like to congratulate all our fans on the victory. The most important thing is three points. According to the statistics, if I’m not mistaken, we had more than twenty shots – we lacked a little bit in the closing stages, accuracy. We could have scored more than one goal in the first half. Naturally, it would have simplified the game for us. There is something to work on – the realization of chances. The red card in the second half, of course, added nervousness, although even in the minority we had chances and could score. Unfortunately, we did not realize them, but 1-0 is also a victory. One goal is enough to win. Overall, the match was not an easy one, but I think we deserved this victory. We should note the opponent, Shakhtar are not given to anyone easily.

-Nikolai Zolotov and Aizar Akmatov and striker Roman Izotov may join the team. Will they be announced?

-It’s a difficult question. Honestly, I talked to only one player – Roman Izotov. I can`t say anything about the other players – whether they will be signed. I know that they are at the base, but at the moment it’s hard for me to say what their status is. Of course, we, like all teams, always want quality reinforcements. I think two or three positions would be optimal for us. But, again, there are always the club’s possibilities and so on… So we are focused on all these things. Of course, we want quality players for reinforcement – it’s not new for us, nor… Even Manchester City always determine the transfer policy and want to strengthen. What to say about us. I told the management that we lack a little bit of the squad. 17 people to solve serious problems is not enough. I hope that we will be able to strengthen. We are working in this direction, and only time will show what will happen.
